13 January 2012 the cruise ship Costa Concordia ran aground off Italy’s west coast with 4000 on board. A mass evacuation was organised, a complex and demanding procedure.

October 2, the GUARDEX 2012 exercise was held. This execise was developed to simulate dealing with a marine emergency occurring in the London Array area.

eMIRG is the title of the project newsletter. The first issue has been released. Articles cover the background of the project, the results so far and experience with MIRGs in the UK.

In June the Dutch, Belgian and French MIRG-EU partners visited their colleagues in Kent, England to see the equipment the Kent Fire and Rescue Service uses.
